A city official just informed us that the city of Nowata will be without water for at least half a day tomorrow. As a result, on-campus classes are cancelled, and tomorrow will be a distance learning day. High school and middle school students should check their email accounts and Google Classroom for their assignments. Elementary students and parents should check their Classroom Dojo accounts for their assignments. As of now, all extracurricular activities scheduled for tomorrow afternoon are still a go. Coaches and sponsors will be in touch with their players/students if that changes.

"Last week, before we went on break, Mrs. Scott's Biology classes did a lab where they got to look at pond water, cheek cells, and onion cells under a microscope. They found multiple living organisms in the pond water!"

I’d like to share some numbers with you. The following statistics are from the high school, and our current high school enrollment is 189 students: On October 4th of last year (2023), we had 29 students failing 64 classes. 17 of those 29 students were failing multiple classes. On October 4th of this year (2024), we had 14 students failing 19 classes. 3 of those 14 students are failing multiple classes. When comparing the numbers from this year to last year, the number of students failing one or more classes is down 51% (14 vs 29). There are 70% fewer classes being failed (19 vs 64), and the number of students failing multiple classes is down by 82% (3 vs 17). I am just so proud of our students, our parents, our staff, and our building administration for every ounce of their hard work, determination, and resilience that have been on full display since day one. This type of transformative change does not occur without the cooperation and collaboration of everyone involved. Our work is far from over, and we intend to keep our foot on the gas pedal, but there is nothing wrong with taking a moment to appreciate and recognize the hard work that is taking place in our high school classrooms and at home. Have a great day, everyone!
