This morning we had an amazing Veterans Day assembly. I want to thank Mrs. Truesdel, Mrs. Prince, Mr. Harrington, the FFA, the American Legion, OPAA, and every student and staff member that participated in, or worked behind the scenes to make this happen. As a veteran myself, it is truly appreciated.

To my Seniors, I cannot believe the time is here for your last marching season to end. It has been an amazing journey. Thank you for all the hard work, dedication, commitment, sweat and tears you have put into our program. Because of your leadership and talent our band is what it is today and it is a pretty amazing band. You have truly embraced what it means to be an Ironmen. You are going to be greatly missed my friends. I hope you always keep a song in your heart, you chase after your dreams and you always believe in yourself. You each have a special place in my heart and always will. Wherever you go and whatever you decide to do you will always have a home here in the Nowata Band. Always and forever a Marching Ironmen. #IronmenPride

Good morning, Friends!! You might think I'm crazy, but I don't believe there are any bad kids. For a variety of reasons, however, at times kids will make horrible decisions and exhibit awful behaviors, but that doesn't make them bad people. Many of us Baby Boomers and Gen Xers want to poke fun at them, inferring that the up and coming generations are weak, soft, entitled, and lazy. First of all, we're the ones who raised them, so there's that... Secondly, they are growing up in a much more difficult, confusing, and faster paced world than the comparatively simpler one we grew up in 20, 30, 40 years ago. Just like we did back then, though, kids today need love, grace, and caring hands to guide them and help them along their paths. I always remind myself that the harder a kid tries to push me away, the more he/she needs me. We have EXTRAORDINARY kids in our schools and community, and I'm humbled and grateful to have a small part in their lives, if only for a short time. Have a wonderful day, Folks.
