
Photosynthesis lab in Mrs. Scott's classes! Spinach leaf discs were placed in beakers with a solution of baking soda and water. One beaker was placed in the light, the other in the dark. As oxygen was produced during photosynthesis, the leaves in the beaker placed in the light were carried to the surface! This really helped the students understand this process!

Another big showing for Ironmen Powerlifting this week. Riley Ammerman placed 2nd and Bear Savala 3rd for Varsity. Jr. High had 4 athletes bring home medals. Kalen Banuelos-1st, Maliki Ornder-2nd, Caleb Parrish-3rd, and Danny Rush-3rd. Regionals next week! #IronSharpensIronmen

District Basketball Tournament vs Wyandotte this Saturday. Girls - 6:00PM Boys - 7:30 PM These games are part of the OSSAA playoffs, so the prices will be different from regular season games. Mrs. Mitts began her February lessons this week. The lessons will focus on kindness and respectful communication. Students will complete activities with her this month as we work toward positive character development. Mrs. Mitts enjoys spending time with the amazing students at Nowata Middle
School.

Nowata hosted a Robotics Competition this weekend. We did extremely well bringing home 9 trophies in total.
Team 44044A the Allstars won the Sportsmanship Award. They are a Middle School team consisting of Tristan Scmardo, Zané Dyches and Zander Dyches
Team 44044B The Ironmen won the Judges Award. They are a High School team consisting of Jacob Williams and Cheley Sullivan.
Team 44044D Disco Freaks won the Energy Award as well as Tournament Finalists which means that they finished 2nd place in the finals. They are a High School team consisting of Jacob Horner and Trinity Lippert.
Team 44044 F Overengineered won the Build Award as well as Tournament Champions 1st place in the tournament. He is a one man Middle School team consisting of Dalgus Gipson.
Team 44044P The Paralyzed Penguins won the Think Award for having the best programming. They are a Middle School team consisting of JJ Gipson, AJ Vidal, and Savannah Hultz (not pictured).
Team 44044R unfortunately did not get any awards, but they played great. They are a Middle School team consisting of Bailee Vidal and Thomas Merrill.
Team 44044T The Rat Pack won the Tournament Finalists award for their 2nd place finish. They are a Middle School team consisting of Kalen Banuelos, Cayson Pinney, Damon Cantrell (not pictured), and Brayden Stewart (not pictured).
Team 44044Z Danger Zone won the top award of the event, The Excellence Award. They are a Middle School team consisting of Shelby Webster, Nevada Gilmore, and Vyon Vang (not pictured).
The Excellence Award and Tournament Champions are both qualifying awards to the State Championship!
We are super proud of these kids and all the hard work they put in to the Robotics Program here at Nowata.

Basketball Tonight: Senior Night! Jv at 4:30. Girls then Boys. Senior Night stuff starts at approximately 6:00PM. Varsity girls Vs Chelsea start at 6:30 PM followed by boys.

Congratulations to members of our MS and HS Band as they represented Nowata at the MEOBDA District Honors Band. The Honor Bands are made up of 32 participating schools. Each participant auditioned for a chair in one of the three honor bands. A total of 900 students auditioned and 300 made it in.
Jana Lippert (7th grade) Clarinet received 6th chair in the 7th grade band.
Kollin Ivie (8th grade) Trumpet received 6th chair in the JH Band.
Jazmyn Ortiz-Velez (11th grade) Flute received 5th Chair in the HS Band.
After a day and half of rehearsals, the students performed a concert for family and friends. I am super proud of our talented musicians. Way to represent Nowata.
